Alien Isolation Nintendo Switch Review
Overview
Alien Isolation for the Nintendo Switch is the port of the 2014 game; it follows Amanda Ripley 15 years after the 1979 film. She is on board the space station Sevastopol, where she must hide, run, or fight other survivors and the alien threat. The game costs $20 digitally but sometimes might be a little bit cheaper on sale. There are many different tools you can use to lure the alien away from you and distract it as well. The alien's AI is very good; for example, if you stay in a place for too long, it will start checking hiding places.
The Xenomorph also can hide in vents above you, and you would notice this by its drool coming from the vents. Touching back on the tools you can use, they are flashbangs, noisemakers, Molotov cocktails, smoke grenades, pipe bombs, and many others. In Alien Isolation on the Nintendo Switch, it also includes the other game modes, such as challenge maps and survivor mode. On the Sevastopol, you can explore different areas of the ship. Such as the medical bay and the security wing, and take an elevator to the bridge.
Gameplay and controls
Gameplay is very fun. There are many big open areas to explore on the station. However, in some areas you need to backtrack through to get to new ones. Such as upgrading your cutting torch, or you can backtrack to find more crafting materials. There are also collectibles you can find, such as ID tags or logs on computers throughout the station. The controls are quite well done for the Nintendo Switch as well. Graphically speaking, it still holds up to this day. Such as the lighting looking out the windows into space, particle effects, and the models of the NPCs and the Xenomorph itself.
Story
Before you go on to Sevastopol, you start on the Torrens, a small ship heading to Sevastopol. To go more in-depth about this game's story. I highly recommend watching a few of the Alien movies, such as the first one and, in my opinion, Alien: Romulus. Recently Walt Disney released their new TV show Alien Earth that is on Hulu that goes more in-depth into the Alien Universe. Now getting back to the game, once Amenda gets to the station, she finds the flight recorder of her disappeared mother. This is a dead end for now; after she finds it, she comes face-to-face with the alien for the first time.

(Yes, I do get nervous playing this game.)
Final Thoughts
Overall, Alien Isolation is a great spooky game that is fun on the go. The story can be long at times, but the ending is very cool and satisfying. The replay value on it is pretty decent as well since you can try other difficulties, such as nightmare, where you get no health UI, no map, and the alien has a heightened sense of sound. I rate this game an 8/10 for the Nintendo Switch port.
