Red Dead Redemption Nintendo Switch Review
Overview
What is Red Dead Redemption about? Red Dead Redemption is a long game about, well, you guessed it, redemption. It is a gritty, narrative, action-filled drama that is centered around a man called John Marston. Technically yes, I know this is a game that has a sequel; cut me some slack, lol. I haven't updated this blog in over 5 years. Red Dead Redemption takes place in the late Wild West around 1911, when it was the decline of the American Frontier. It originally released in May 2010, and then it was later rereleased for newer consoles. I was surprised that it came to a Nintendo system; it was a very welcome addition to the Nintendo Switch library. It is priced at $50 usually; however, sometimes it might go on sale digitally or physically at stores.
Gameplay & Controls
The gameplay is still fresh and fun to this day especially with the Dead eye meter, where you get to slow down time and take your shots. Controls I would say overall is fine sometimes can be a bit stiff while aiming down guns. There are many missions you can take on in Red Dead Redemption, such as helping strangers, or even working on the main story missions. My favorite mission is where you help a women find her missing son but there are cannibals in the hills. Another mission I really enjoyed was the main mission where you help Irish locate a machine gun ammo in a warehouse. While wondering around the world of New Austin, you can loot herbs, shoot wild animals for their pelts, and try to find gold bars for a lot of cash. A cool feature of this game like earlier games back in the 2010's is that there are cheats you can mess around with as well.
Story of the game
The story of Red Dead Redemption takes place across many places in the Wild West. Such as in the states of New Austin and Blackwater and even Mexico. It follows John Marston trying to find and hunt his old gang members, such as Dutch, Javier, Bill, and more. 'Why is John doing this?' you might ask. This is because John Marston's family is being held by the government as a bargaining chip. John used to ride with these outlaws, but now he doesn't have much of a choice. The government wants him to put an end to the outlaws and expand more out in the west. Near the end of the game, John plans an all-out attack on the main outlaw, villain Dutch.

Here is one of my favorite websites that also reviews Nintendo Switch games. (Red Dead Redemption Review (Switch eShop / Switch) | Nintendo Life) Nintendo Life where all credit is due, gave their review of the game a high score as well.
Final thoughts
My final thoughts on Red Dead Redemption are that it is a great game to close out the decade with on the Xbox 360. I was very surprised that a port of it came to new consoles, even to the Nintendo Switch. If I had to give it a score, I would give it a 7/10 for what it is.
Comments
Yea Nintendo is really greedy, but I would say to get the RDR games on a better system. I got RDR2 premium on PS5 on sale for 20 bucks which is really good. One of the best stories of all time.
ReplyDeleteYeah, definitely agree, especially with the Undead Nightmare DLC.
